Avantages

Good company, mostly great people. A business model that is unique and should continue to grow the business. It is a family-owned business that has created some challenges, but the family really cares about the business, the culture, and the people. They do want to maintain their reputation and solve the growing pains. There have been a number of senior management turnover in the past 2-3 year (Sales, HR, IT, Finance, international, etc.), mostly for the better, and that is bringing in some big company experience - annual reviews, comp, more communications to customer and employees. So the company is trying to evolve. Employees do vary, with still some 9-to-5, punch-the-clock attitudes, but lots more people who do what it takes, works as a team, and have some pride in the results. A mix as you would see anywhere. Some of the older reviews on here should be taken with a grain of salt - you can sense the resentment when they were let go or did not like their direct boss. (Same as anything on Glass Door) but every company has their good and bad aspects. I've been at a few other companies, and Rochester is up there with the best for growth, success, mostly engaged employees (not all), and a good overall work-life balance. Love the campus, the regular company cookouts and events (they are trying to have fun), and the community-focus. The pay is so-so compared to start-ups and big Boston companies, but the health care is about the best I have seen. The location is great, and overall company reputation and stability is a good thing for the long-term. (I hope.)

Inconvénients

Some people can get lost, especially in the production jobs.

Avantages

- Supportive owners and a generally well-run company that takes care of its employees - Uncapped bonus structure - Good medical benefits and work life balance - Some genuinely good colleagues - Don't worry about how well/bad you perform; rewards/promotions/pay adjustments are definitely not based on these - A comfortable place for those planning for retirement or not focused on career growth. If you are seeking career progression, opportunities are limited unless you navigate internal politics wisely.

Inconvénients

- Blatant double standards; at times it feels like a “cowboy town”. - Recognition can goes to undeserving individuals. More qualified individuals are often overlooked despite being more capable. - Unofficial authority can be abused by some from the “inner circle.” - Experience can vary depending on your gender - Certain toxic and petty leadership running the show; if you didn't feel it, you are part of it. - Micromanagement due to insecure leadership - Ambiguity at its peak; certain leadership is unclear what he/she wants and try to shrink away from making direct decisions so as to have a scapegoat. - Gaslighting and undermining your contributions is the culture in some places. - Meetings are not conducted in English at times; insensitive to those who doesn't understand native languages, not that leadership cares. - There will be times you are required to remind people to do their jobs (yes).
