Avantages

Good to teach students and help them succeed in the nursing field

Inconvénients

No holidays like a normal college. We work on Christmas Eve and the day after Christmas. It’s not like university. Hourly not salary which is not cool. Management could use some work.

Avantages

Beginner's experience and great place to start out. Effective in the classroom and furthering student careers. No degrees are required, though for instructor positions you do need your license to teach the LVN classes, and the license/certifications for EMT, Medical Assistant, Pharmacy Technician and Nurse Aide classes. For the RN ADN courses all instructors have a form of higher education degree at the PhD level, Masters or Bachelors.

Inconvénients

Basic 401K, pay and benefits are mild but below the State and Federal median for my current position. Leadership if filled with nepotism and follows an old conservative misguided lead on fulfilling operations and expansion. Limiting the institution as a private "college" does rise the cost to students but leaves a larger niche of the demographic to seek opportunity at competitive institutions near by. Highlights the mission and vision statements but does not commit to them, students are the only ones whom are growing- no staff growth. Growth within the institution is limited or not present, and grow available is given to those who are tenured or "loyal" to the mission and vision statement. If you have a higher education degree do not expect a larger pay increase or authority in a position. Your degree means nothing to them, it only serves a " congratulations ". Nepotism and favoritism are current issues within the organization. Some Directors will halt any progress you are trying to achieve for self growth. Any goals you have are to be for the good of your position or tasks. Any issues you are experiencing or any external goals you are trying to achieve are to be left at the door when you clock-in. But you are expected to volunteer to assist with any external functions or events set up for students, if you do not volunteer do expect some directors to volun-tell you to go.
