Avantages

Great solutions and tons of private equity backing.

Inconvénients

In November of 2020 the company took a negative turn. Brought in leadership from outside of Edtech which is fine but the issue was the new leadership failed to have an open mind and learn. The company culture has shifted drastically since this change from people first to profit first. Culture is moving from a professional sales culture to a telemarketing culture where quantity will be looked at versus quality. This was all brought in from new executive leadership as this is how they did things at other companies. Educational sales are built strongly on trust and relationships and this has gone out of the window at Renaissance. Turnover is through the roof mainly because of the drastic shift in culture / lack of culture. Many of the top performers have left because of this. The other main reason the top 50% of talent has left is from the strong leaders who are leaving and lack of compensation transparency. Renaissance is known to be on the low end of base salaries in the industry and top talent can double their earnings moving elsewhere. A really big issue at Renaissance is the commission issues. Most people have no idea if they are being compensated correctly with the lack of transparency. If something isn’t booked correctly good luck getting that resolved as the leadership team for the revenue organization and sales operations organization will always find a way to penny pinch the sales reps. The company had legal issues in this area years ago. I’m honestly surprised it hasn’t happened again. This has led to major turnover and unfortunately for Renaissance most of the top reps / consistent performers are leaving weekly. Rumor is over 40 reps have left since January which is more than double the normal end of year turnover. Again the concern is many of these professionals were top tier in the industry. I would pass on Renaissance for a while until they are sold and have new revenue leadership brought in.

Thanks for your feedback and for the time that you spent working for Renaissance and supporting our mission to accelerate learning for all. Renaissance recently amended the compensation structure to incentivize sellers to maximize their selling potential through building holistic learning solutions with educators and by reaching new populations.

Avantages

Some of the most amazing people you’ll ever work with. Generally supportive peers. Leaders are kind and not intentionally toxic. Strong brand recognition and a variety of solutions to enable solution selling.

Inconvénients

The culture of the organization seems to have succumbed to the broader climate surrounding politics and education. Immense pressure is placed on sales team to deliver in saturated territories with beyond unachievable quotas for some and cake quotas for others. No cost of living increases, lots of layoffs and unclear path for growth with an egregious lack of transparency from leadership about the glaring issues. NONE of this seems intentional or malicious-it just seems like a lot of behaviors caused by extreme desperation.
