Avantages

Indeed a good job offer, including tax-free salary, furnished villa, excellent health care, two-month annual paid leave. Good working environment. Good work/life balance. Generous paid leave package. More opportunities for travel.

Inconvénients

Doha city is quite small and boring. Extreme Heat and Humidity. Public transportation is in its infancy. Traffic here is a mess and people drive like lunatics. Doha in summer is a bit of a ghost town. The general working atmosphere here is a bit laid-back. Career wise, it can be a good place for senior people to retire here. It might not be a good place for early-career researchers to advance their career, although it provides attractive compensation package. It is not easy to lure highly motivated and talented students to work here.

Comparing with research institute back in states, QCRI offers a good package. Good, not great. Annual paid leave is more than you expected.

Inconvénients

- Life may be boring in Doha. - Expense is higher than most place in the world.
