Avantages

The best thing about this job is that the pay is decent for an entry level job. Aside from that, there is not much more. Benefits are very good, however, they will do their best to keep you temp for as long as they can so you cannot gain benefits. (Guy quit at my location because they had been stinging him along for over a year)

Inconvénients

Where do I even begin. I applied for this job and was told that we would occasionally work overtime. I was content with that as who doesn't like a bonus every now and then? Since i was hired (in may), have worked a total of 3 weeks that did not consist of overtime. I'm not talking about 8hours overtime, I'm talking about 15-40 hours overtime every week. Yes, you end up bringing home $800+ a week, however when you are working 12hr shifts Monday thru Saturday and an 8hr Sunday, the money starts to lose its value very quickly. Apart from being worked to death, management is highly unprofessional. It is often a game of politics rather than rewarding the hard workers. The pay is a flat rate across the board, whether you're a new hire, or have worked there for 25 years, all Panel Ops make the same amount. Management keeps the people that they enjoy talking to and send the rest off, and since Perdue has an almost, "no one can get fired" policy, they just make the place a nightmare for you to work at until you decide to leave. They take forever to train you on things such as the forklift and pallet jack, which you need to use everyday; and when even your management isn't trained, you know something isn't right. My coworkers are less than par as well. Most of them are 40+, and have no work ethic at all. My average day is walking into the Panel Room a the beginning of my shift to one employee asleep and the other glued to his iPhone watching movies, not paying attention to anything around him. The 3 shifts are often fighting each other, say that this shift did x and this shift did y, always pointing fingers but never accepting the blame. Employees can decide to just not show up to work until 4 hours after their 8 hour shift started, and they only receive 1/2 n occurrence, 5 occurrences results in "termination", however occurrences reset every 31 days. I have seen it where the night time shift runner just doesn't show up for his shift and the 3-11 now has to work 3-7. He has done that twice in the past two weeks, and showed up 4hrs late on a Saturday shift and has received nothing but a stern talking to; he was "punished" by putting him on first shift. Best punishment I've ever heard of. This is just a fraction of the issue I have with this company. The management beyond the mill management seems more professional, however since I have not seen or met them personally, I cannot be certain. My only hope is that this changes from mill to mill and that not all the feed mills are like this. If they are all the same, then God help the Perdue family.
