Avantages
The staff were mostly very friendly and easy to get along with. Great flexibility with work from home days.
Inconvénients
The senior leadership management team(s) seemed to suffer from the Dunning-Kreuger effect. This was apparent when the company tried their hand at pushing IBM tin to no success. Pigeonholed tunnel vision - if you're a developer, the company is obsessed with pushing a failing low-code OutSystems narrative into market. Be really careful when considering Optimation if you're passionate about coding. The ownership has hands in a lot different companies at once so Optimation didn't always feel like a priority while I was there, just after a quick buck selling software solutions that seemed to under deliver. 30 years in the NZ market but have very little to show for it. There are better, more exciting, more modern thinking dev shops for developers looking to truly challenge themselves. The company has somewhat of a negative reputation within its current and former staff for how the owner has no problem with layoffs and outsourcing to the Philippines. Anytime there's economic turbulence the company shamefully gets it's axe out to juice their annual "profits".
