Avantages

amazing, passionate staff who care about their work; you're doing really important work that has tangible effects on people's lives; mission-driven and client-centered; great work life balance compared to other PD offices; well-resourced for a PDs office; good leave policy

Inconvénients

this job is high stakes and stressful due to the very nature of the job, burnout is real, pay is oppressively low; having to deal with heartless prosecutors and judges on a regular basis is a drag but not a function of the office. the ED is MIA and executive management is so detached from the daily workings of the office, people don't even know where the ED is! would be a much better organization and would function better if they had a better ED and executive management actually was engaged with the office.

Interns are unpaid which is typical for this kind of job but still disappointing to just provide free labor

Avantages

Selection process is very thoughtful and well managed. Culture in Detroit is collaborative and supportive. Very great benefits. Never had paid health insurance, so many PTO days and holidays, remote work AND competitive pay at any other employer.

Inconvénients

Often times a few people's personal agenda or unhappiness can spread and cause havoc within the office, causing staff to be led by falsehoods, rather than better understanding or taking advantage of the true offerings from the organization. Lack of accountability for some in senior leadership, which has caused difficulties in operations with trust and stability due to the mismanagement.
