Avantages

Working at Mercer provides the opportunity for exposure to a broad range of consulting services. There are many paths you can take to having a successful career at Mercer, especially if you specialize in something and build a niche for yourself. There really is a culture of fun where we can laugh and enjoy time working together in spite of tough clients and projects. Overall, upper level consultants are understanding of workloads and fair in their expectations. The PFS process allows you to propose new direction that you might want to take and encourages open communication about likes and dislikes about your position.

Inconvénients

It can be difficult to know where you stand career wise and when to expect to move up. I think there's a tendency toward rewarding higher level employees more readily than lower level employees even if the contribution relative to the position is similar. Training for new employees is very limited - I think there's a tendency to hire people who are ready to start day 1, rather than investing in people who could be trained to be great. I've seen lots of people hired because they have the name of one of our competitors on their resume and not much else. There is some erosion of niceties that we used to have - breakfast once a week, etc.

Avantages

-Trustworthy immediate colleagues -Good work/life balance and flexibility

Inconvénients

-Little career pathing within company. Organization is extremely siloed, and cheap as they simply aren't interested in paying for small things to advance one's career like local industry conferences and events such as team holiday dinners that would have minimal impact on the company's bottom line. -Pay not aligned with skills or talent marketplace -One would think a benefits/career consultant would have decent pay and benefits. This is not the case
