      Avantages

      Most co-workers are very intelligent and working with them can be an incredible learning experience. Most projects are very interesting and fun to work with.

      Inconvénients

      Complete lack of direction, at least with this particular position. Six months spent on a project that will most likely never see the light of day. A good engineer/scientist doesn't always make a good boss.

      Avantages

      High quality core facilities and well resourced labs. Countless brilliant colleagues who can serve as mentors and collaborators

      Inconvénients

      Students and Postdocs are expensive due to high overhead, so unreasonably high productivity is often expected compared to other institutions. PIs are typically stretched very thin. Most departments/labs are very space limited which makes it harder to do safe and productive research.
