Working at LocalEdge was one of the most mentally and emotionally exhausting experiences of my life. From day one, I was micromanaged to a suffocating degree—especially by Patty Williams, who seemed to thrive on control, criticism, and chaos. Every decision had to be run through her, and God help you if you didn’t copy her on every single email. Autonomy? Not here.
The team was made up of a rotating cast of middle-aged drama magnets—people who’d either been chewed up and spit out by better jobs or were simply stuck in a cycle of toxicity.
The stress was relentless. I woke up anxious, went to sleep anxious, and had full-blown panic attacks during the workday. Management pushed completely unrealistic sales goals with the constant threat of being written up or let go. No one cared if you were burning out—as long as you hit your numbers.
And speaking of sales, let’s talk about the product: it’s a borderline scam. We sold overpriced marketing packages to small businesses with big promises and very little follow-through. Clients were often misled or outright lied to, and many of us felt disgusting about it. But if you questioned anything? You were labeled a “bad fit” or “not a team player.
