Avantages

LSS has a wonderful, vibrant workforce, which helps motivate me to do my job well. It seems like everyone has really bought into the idea that what we do really matters, and Management won't settle for people who don't give it their best effort. Healthcare IT is a rapidly growing industry, and LSS (now that they've been acquired by long-time business partner and industry leader, MEDITECH) has a decent chance of being very successful.

Inconvénients

LSS has had some struggles with users adopting their EHR product, which I know has lead to added stress on the groups who support it lately. We've come a long way, though, even in the past year, so I think we are on the brink of pulling things together. I keep up on industry news, and it seems like all EHR vendors are having these struggles. EHR's are still in their infant stage, and they have an end-user base (physicians, etc) that is challenging to satisfy.

Avantages

- If you are patient, LSS will always try to gear your job to something you want to do. - You are not a cog in the wheel, constant improvement is always in effect. - Look forward to being taken seriously and offering input immediately out of training. -Flexibility touches many areas. - Minnesota nice, in the sense that no one will really yell at you for anything, very low stress in development. - Great networking. - Fantastic planning and scheduling in development. - Some system tools are very neat and useful. - The software is interesting to dig into. - Adjustable hours are a huge plus when you have other items outside of 8-5. - As other bare reviews have mentioned, nickle soda and free coffee, hot chocolate, and tea. - Dress code is low with polo's and slacks for men. Yearly raises and bonuses (others have complained that LSS does not pay well, and I wholly disagree. Most companies do not give out yearly raises). - Benefits are out of this world. Hope this helps as one of the more positive and clear reviews for LSS. Just like anything, you get what you put in.

Inconvénients

- Obsolete internal tools/software. - Learning curve can be very difficult and intimidating for many people. Hard work must be had to understand how things work and how things relate between departments. - Poor communication for company-wide changes as well as inter-group changes. - Documentation and searching for answers is a drawn-out, complicated process. - Large inconsistencies between groups (mismatched deadlines and expectancies) - The groups in charge of documentation and review are far stronger since I have started. - Minnesota Nice - Newbies only get one 4:3 monitor. - People have a hard time making a new pot of coffee. - People complain that the coffee is terrible. -

Avantages

LSS (now MEDITECH) is very selective when it comes to hiring. Therefore, you end up with a great group of co-workers who are very smart and hard working. The only other thing that MEDITECH has going for it is benefits. You will be hard pressed to find better benefits in today's economy.

Inconvénients

While MEDITECH has a lot of potential, I don't see the company advancing itself much in the field because of 2 major issues. 1) Low pay, which in turn causes 2) High turn over rates. MEDITECH markets it's self as a value EHR, which in some respect is awesome. I like the idea that I am working for a company that is not contributing to the rising healthcare costs. On the other hand, because MEDITECH is a value EHR company, employee's are paid a "Value" salary.
