Avantages

There are a lot of good and smart people working for JCI. The human resource is what’s keeping the company moving. Should you thrive on a profitable account, you’ll be rewarded with a bonus and a standard raise. The middle management does their best to keep the troops’ moral up during difficult organizational changes.

Inconvénients

As many have pointed out, layoffs are cyclical here. The most disheartening thing about how JCI handles layoffs is very “top down.” As in the executives and upper managers call the shots on what Human Resources will be effected. Additionally, the company has very dated and disjointed project management software applications that really need an integrated system to replace the relics they’ve been nursing along. Finally, sales individuals driving accounts are not familiar with project management processes and JCI needs to establish better project management SOPs; especially in project planning, change management and basic work breakdown structure. So many little projects (less than 40 hours) that prove to be an administrative nightmare for all stakeholders involved.

Avantages

Pro's depend on where you sit in the organization. Broadly, JCI is a focused, mission-driven organization leading sustainability and smart-building innovations worldwide. The technology is strong, very strong, we have a data-driven culture, and the work is meaningful. There are endless routes to professional development (you just need to put in the work), and you'll be exposed to teams and people of all walks of life from around the world. JCI's people are its greatest asset. There is a huge collection of really excellent people here. If you enjoy how that sounds, you'll enjoy working here.

Inconvénients

The higher you climb, the more complex the organizational layers get. The closer you are to the customer, however, the less you'll see that complexity. Essentially, the Con's depend on where you sit in the organization. Broadly speaking, JCI sets high expectations that require resilience and adaptability. Your focus is occasionally taxed by news and moves from other levels of the org. You need to train yourself to focus on what matters most to you and not let what you can't control affect what you can control.

Avantages

Decent pay, good PTO and benefits

Inconvénients

Everything else. ZERO training. They hand you a laptop (which is garbage) and say good luck. There is no "team." Everyone is on their own. The senior techs all reached their peak 20 years ago and don't even know what BACnet is. The bureaucracy is unbearable. Ordering a simple part is nearly impossible. There are so many apps you have to check in on everyday and they care more about those metrics than they care about the service their customers are receiving. If you want to get your butt kicked everyday with zero support at a company that specializes in taking advantage of their customers, this is the job for you.
