Avantages
The company had great career opportunities to move around within the organization, pay scale was the highest in the area outside the oil industry there. Loads of overtime for those who worked underground, since the mine never closed, 401k match was the best I have ever seen. Lots of ways to cross-train and learn multiple trades while working in one place.
Inconvénients
The company became unstable and unreliable, profits dropped on what was being sold so many employees were just let go without a possibility of knowing if they will be able to come back. Management would never give you a straight answer and would lie to you right in your face. Poor leadership and change, would not allow people who could actually lead to becoming supervisors but instead allow friends who are friends of friends to hold these positions. Not much care for underground employees and very little positive morale between supervisors and employees.
