Avantages

- Those in the trenches are the salt of the earth. L1's, L2's and L1 Supervisors are some of the kindest people you'll work with. We all banded together and helped share the burden. - Awarded all PTO and Sick hours at the beginning of the year, which is different from the normal accrual model you see in other companies.

Inconvénients

- Pay was well below industry standard ($16/hr). Not just that, but if you went from part-time to full-time, they would scale back your hourly pay dramatically. - Employees were encouraged to fill out a company-wide survey annually and were encouraged to ask questions in all-hands meetings. The question that came up the most was regarding compensation. It was evident that those in Support were underpaid, felt it, and were upset about it. Any questions regarding pay were dismissed and dodged altogether. - Favoritism is rampant, with employees being promoted based on connections, rather than merit. Several employees who created a toxic work environment were shielded from consequence and continue working at Instructure to this day. - Silent promotion is a very real thing. You'll be borrowed to work on special projects or to assist advanced support teams, but you'll never be compensated for doing so. If you set a boundary for your mental health, you'll be punished. - No upward mobility, especially if you are based in North America. - Instructure offshored the Support department and tried to reduce NORAM head count by cutting back on benefits and halting all promotions. The higher-ups said that this was in "an effort to globalize", but we all know that they were looking for ways to cut corners and pay less. It was only ever about the $$$. - Poor product design choices led to termination of contracts with Support. There is a complete disconnect between the Engineering team and the user. - L1 Support Supervisors are truly hit or miss. Those who were a "miss" were never fired, which they should have been. It's almost too hard to fire people, even when it's necessary. - Culture started to slide drastically after Thoma Bravo acquired the company. Feels very corporate and cold.
