Despite being overworked and underpaid, co-workers seemed committed to quality patient care. However, there is frequent turnover among staff for the aforementioned reasons.
Inconvénients
Senior leadership is detached, unaware of what is happening in the gemba. The organization got too lean several years back and is now scrambling to recover. Pay is abysmal, non competitive, and well below grade for the DC area. The benefits package offered through Aetna Innovation is more expensive and provides less coverage for their own Inova employees versus other groups. Example, my husband works for Fairfax County Public Schools and we get Inova owned Aetna Innovations high family coverage through FCPS - overall cost is lower, and benefits (percentages out of pocket and deductibles, copays, etc.) are better. This is an area where Inova should be very embarrassed that as the largest healthcare system in NoVa., they are not taking care of their own employees.
