Avantages
Good employee benefit scheme including cheap rental vehicles and retail discounts on a large range of stores (more than just automotive). Earning potential IS decent IF you can sell AND stay on your manager's good side. Global company means a lot of ability to move around, even accommodating of international relocations. A few managers (very few) care about their reports' well-being.
Inconvénients
Plentiful growth opportunities that are rarely if ever filled with internal staff. Managers constantly hire externally and frequently terminate these external hires on the final day of their probation. During my time at Inchcape I saw in excess of fifteen (off the top of my head) staff leave one dealership (both terminations and resignations). Employees are terminated at a moment's notice, frequently having been told that management has no concerns with their work as little as 3 weeks prior. Inchcape will not acknowledge there is a management problem, and when targets aren't met, management consistently places blame on their sales teams who work 60hr+ weeks. It is not just common practice, but management's expectations, that staff will stay at work until as late as 1am during busy periods with no additional time in lieu OR overtime pay. Loyal staff are ignored and rebuffed when attempting to ascend in the organisation, while staff that have been reported for harrassment and bullying on separate occasions by separate members of staff are not disciplined. One staff member was sexually assaulted on two separate occasions and Inchcape HR did not believe her and refused to investigate. If you are offered a job by Inchcape, find something (anything) else.
