Avantages

Salary paid on time. Job security if you’re happy being stagnant. Easy to get hired (in hindsight, a red flag).

Inconvénients

Extremely poor management culture in the UK. Micromanagement is constant and exhausting. No real career progression despite years of service. Performance reviews feel meaningless and box-ticking. Accountability only flows downward — managers never take responsibility. Quality standards are low, but frontline staff get blamed when users escalate. Equipment and processes are outdated and inefficient. Raises and promotions are rare and often arbitrary. “Culture” exists on slides, not in day-to-day reality. High turnover masked by offshore hiring and inflated global reviews. In my role, we were pressured to push out work that clearly wasn’t fit for purpose. When issues inevitably came back, blame landed on the employee — never the system or the decisions made above. Asking for basic things like time off, flexibility, or support felt unnecessarily stressful and discouraged. Despite staying for several years, there was no structured path forward. If you’re competent, you don’t get rewarded — you just get more work. The company’s Glassdoor rating does not reflect the UK experience. It’s heavily skewed by volume reviews and offshore teams. If you’re joining in London or the UK, read the negative reviews carefully — they repeat for a reason.

Where do I even begin.... HCl is a company that will overwork and underpay you and never give you a raise. I was lucky to get a very competitive wage when I started that I felt like I deserved and I fought for that. However even that process they bait and switched 3 times offering higher amounts over the phone and then going back on their word and offering less and less each time until they finally sent me an offer letter. The entire company is inept at communication at any and all levels. You will never get a raise and any time you have any kind of issue or need management/HR to do anything for you results in being ignored. Additionally they will add and add to your roles and responsibilities and ask for the impossible and unreasonable. They get contracts by underbidding other MSP's and then hiring as few people on site as possible and refer the rest of the work to overseas workers that will never do any work and always kick responsibility back to you. If you ever get lucky and they are forced to actually do their job they show that they clearly have no idea what they are doing or talking about. All around a terrible company to work for. If your job role is getting outsourced to HCL, fight for a good salary up front because they will never give you a raise and try to look for another place to work as soon as you can.
