Avantages
Gigenet provides great service to their customers, the environment is great to gain experience in and there have been a lot of really talented people who have worked there. They typically like to stay ahead of the competition with respect to new product offerings etc. Once you start getting the ropes, you can work on interesting projects, but you typically have to be someone who is a self-starter, and not someone who just waits for things to happen.
Inconvénients
The hours can be long being more shift-work, and if you are on-shift alone (likely), things can get very stressful trying to manage multiple tickets all at the same time. You will sometimes run into angry and more demanding customers, which is typical of the hosting industry. Also typical of the hosting industry, there is going to be turnover every couple of years, though at Gigenet, it's not as bad as other hosting providers around the Chicago area. Finally, you will have to know a dozen or so technologies really well, like Yesterday, but it is just the reality of things.
