Avantages
As someone who was not a "lifer" I found ample opportunities to "make your mark", get rewarded and climb the career ladder.
Inconvénients
The company was originally a SmithKline company that was merged into Glaxo. When I was hired, several years after the merger, there were SK employees who felt that they had been blackballed. I can't say that I actually witnessed anything of this nature with any employees. GSK is currently going through surgical re-invention because of changing market conditions. The site where I worked was shut down in 2009 as a consequence of this and other reasons. It is not a safe haven if all you are looking at is size. The CEO is against large operations.
