Avantages

You will get experience working on projects way outside of your skill level, allowing you to grow. You will learn to deal with weird forms of stress caused by managerial incompetence which will make you bullet proof to any future company that is run well.

Inconvénients

Terrible benefits, no retirement options. Bronze tier health insurance through Kaiser. Horrible, horrible, horrible management Data center is one power disaster away from complete destruction (if one of their APC UPS devices goes out, the other will be operating at over 50% load, completely against the rules laid out by SSAE). Company was purchased by a parasitical, non-Coloradoan controlled venture capitalist firm and is siphoning money out of the Front Range economy to Chicago/Connecticut/Florida while trying to maintain the same "local company" feel. Controlling firm threatens former managers with sabotage because of their own incompetence to address systems breaking down (part of the reason the low level managers have quit). Ie: their billing system crashed literally 2 days after their billing manager left and told them it was going to crash because he was pushing band-aids every week to it, they threatened him with "corporate sabotage". They are still running systems from the 90s for back end control that could all crash and burn at the drop of a hat. Every time we tried to migrate to new services they refused to provide capital. Upper management laid off or fired all of their employees in September 2019, that we're deemed "not submissive to the new management" ie: when they would voice concern on decisions versus blindly obeying. Some of these employees have been there longer than upper management has been. Fully expect this company to go bankrupt by 2022 - probably intentionally to write off debt from the capitalist firm that owns the company. Will intentionally lie or deceive big contract customers into believing their services are stable. Will terminate anyone who wants to actually adhere to the SSAE standards of a data center. To give a specific example of how they refuse to invest in upgrading infrastructure: their ability to process credit card payments ended in early 2018 due to encryption changes from SSL to TLS and their processing system they inherited was written in the early 2000s (SSL was the only available regular encryption). They refused to invest in a cheap solution or to pay their system engineers to write a work around to fix this, instead opting to force customers to have to mail in payments, and call in to make payments. Now due to their billing database crashing, they can't even process credit card payments near the time of sending out invoices. We're talking about a solution costing around $6000 to allow an internet company, to take online payments and be future proofed for another 5 years until encryption standards are reviewed again. The benefit of working here in the past was that you would gain experience working with routers, switches, various server systems. They will significantly under pay you for the extra responsibilities they request you do, including putting yourself at physical risk. The threat of termination is how they will motivate you to do things that put you at risk. Ie: climbing a tower without tower certification. Pay value is almost $14 an hour under all competitors in Colorado for NOC work. $30-40,000 under for engineering positions. They were breaking labor laws by refusing to pay employees to be on-call. They were breaking labor laws by refusing to provide 30 minute lunches for 6+ hour lunches on the swing/grave shifts. This is really not a company you want to work for or do business with. They will take your money (at higher cost because they sell the illusion that they are locally owned) for inferior service. In some instances they may take your money for a service they are no longer providing until you make a complaint. This company is not above changing their name in order to continue manipulating or tricking people into doing business with them. You may not see Front Range Internet Inc. in the future but you will see the same facility doing the same shady business. Gary, is not the CEO (he was the President) anymore. He left after getting frustrated with the owners refusing to provide capital to continue to grow the business and to secure the future of the company in 2018.

Avantages

Some flexibility with schedules- was a family run company at one point. They are on the backbone of the local communications infrastructure for northern Colorado.

Inconvénients

Benefits are not just bad- maybe the worst in the city. NO 401k, worst insurance possible, lower than average vacation time. Cancelled Christmas party last year and gave everyone $100 instead. No bonuses, little possibility for promotions and raises. When new ownership took over all the soul of this company disappeared. Can't really consider it a local company anymore since it is now owed by east coast capital firm. They care less about the employees, encouraging the remaining management to fire employees for not meeting deadlines for projects with NO budgets. New ownership spent 20k on LED lighting- while ignoring failing hardware that is 15 years old. Upper level staff promotes promotes political ideals at odds with majority of employees. Racist comments and staff infighting frequently result in an "rich vs. poor" division of values.
