Avantages

Excellent opportunities for individual growth. Excellent mentoring for college grads. Open to employee recommendations and solutioning. Large presence in the world market. Strong emphasis on ethics. I appreciated management's efforts to make itself visible to the organization via the company's intranet with regular news articles, etc. The payoff for this effort is that employees feel like the "know" who the wizards are behind the curtain and the curtain is more transparent than in a lot of companies. For me, it felt like a no-bull type of place to work--for the most part, what you saw is what you got.

Inconvénients

Cyclical nature of the engineering industry, which just goes with the territory. Can't think of anything else at this time--in general, it's a great environment to work in.

Avantages

Good for starting and ending a career in engineering — solid training and plenty of software available. Good benefits and WLB.

Inconvénients

Most projects are PreFEED, so lots of generic work, and they tend to overhire for these projects. It’s hard to make it to the middle ranks here because of the overhiring and layoff on contract loss cycle. The 980 schedule is actually meant to be a 10-hr day, as they began to emphasize the importance of taking lunch. TOWP and sick days are lumped together and earned on an accrued basis, so vacation days are valuable in the beginning. You can be paid your vacation days at the end, too, when your salary is higher… the consequence is that people come in sick all the time.
