Great way to make 14 an hour for getting up at 1:50 AM, working with crazy people, and to completely ruin your back. - Avis employé Package Handler FedEx

Avantages

-Get a great workout, not gonna lie. -Kind coworkers, fun to talk to when there’s not 560 packages in front of you -Good starting pay -They’ll hire literally anyone -Get paid weekly

Inconvénients

-Managers do not care -Pay takes forever to increase -HORRIBLE scheduling -Hours are incredibly volatile -ZERO work/life balance -Waking up early -Easy to get injured by falling boxes, tires -You’re paid a ridiculously low salary considering the tough manual labor you put in. -The job itself makes you feel worthless. -No water/bathroom breaks -Your only “break” time is the time between package volleys flying down the chute -Company talks about benefits yet I’ve heard PLENTY of stories from people who are eligible, yet can’t get healthcare, etc because the company skirts right around it. -Wicked hot/humid -Insane security checkpoint at the front complete with a metal detector -Can’t even use your phone to keep track of time. They WANT you to forget about the time to work you harder -The back pain gets worse and worse every day, with the only respite being Sunday/Monday -Your hands will get mangled -All you will think about at night is the numbers on the packages. It’s quite haunting to be perfectly honest.

Avantages

Easy to apply, fast to get hired (no interview process) and the pay

Inconvénients

Very rude management, lack of care for safety, no drinkable water (all filters are in the red and have been since I started) They have cameras everywhere and are constantly watching you but say you can’t bring your own phone in because “people steal them”? There is junk everywhere. Lots of trash everywhere (employees drinks and food). They want you to work and eat on the line instead of giving you breaks to do so. They get upset when you use the bathroom or fill your water bottle even if you’ve been working for 3 hours straight but if you clock in at an area 2 min walking distance from your work area you’re “stealing time” I’ve noticed people of color get treated differently. The HR department has some of the most prejudice employees so there’s no real equality if you have conflict with someone. I’ve never been, but it feels like a prison to go in and out of the building and lastly you don’t work a consistent schedule. You leave when they say you can.
