Avantages

Some very smart people work here. There are a lot of incredibly talented Scala engineers in the Adtech Studio. I probably learned more here than at any previous company (although that might have to do with working 60-80 hours a week).

Inconvénients

I don't even know where to start. The management of this company is delusional, and everyone is leaving for better places (at least as of early 2016). The CEO has said openly that he's offended when people leave the company, so instead of assessing and fixing the reasons why people are leaving, management has started to restrict resources for current employees (purportedly since they don't want to waste benefits on people who are just going to leave in a year or two). Example: CA used to offer ¥100,000/year for each employee to use on their development environment or for personal learning. Now, this has become a shared pool where anything you buy has to get approval from HR and has to be available for communal use. In a similar vein, training for new hires has been abolished, and a lot of other services that made CA cool have been done away with to save money. So while practically every other company is increasing developer benefits, CA is tightening its budget for basically no reason other than that it's offended because it's best developers are leaving for greener pastures. HR is deceptive and will lie to you. Everyone knows that CA purposely employs a bunch of bimbos for HR, and I think it's a ploy for them to steal money. I was lied to about coming over to work for them part-time before officially starting (they said they paid standard rate - which I guess is ¥1,000/hour?), about the costs of the share house (you don't get the ¥30,000 living subsidy, despite it being overpriced anyway), and about vacation time (6 months trial period with no vacation time; vacation doesn't even start accumulating until after you've been there for 6 months, which is apparently a new policy intended to convince the Japanese government that people actually use their vacation time). Otherwise, it's the basic Japanese startup BS, but even worse. 60-80 hour weeks are standard. People in my group would regularly be posting on Slack until 1-2am every night. One of my friends in DevOps would be in the office until 3-4am, although he claimed he was doing it just to learn more. (Everyone at this company is also in denial about the fact that they're being abused. Most people wise up and leave after their body and mind become totally exhausted.) I took about 5 vacation days during my first year, and I took more than anyone in my group.
