The rot starts at the top. Then the bottom feeders grovel at the CEO's feet. - Avis employé Senior Manager CodePath

Avantages

The rot starts at the top. This is an organization built around a founder-CEO whose ego consistently outpaces their judgment. There's no real strategic discipline — just a revolving door of priorities, each announced like a mandate and quietly dropped before anyone can execute on them. Teams don't operate on roadmaps; they operate on whoever got the CEO's attention last. Follow-through is a myth. Accountability is someone else's problem. What makes it worse is that no one around the CEO pushes back. Nobody feels safe to give feedback. Rather than offering honest counsel, those closest to the CEO have settled into a pattern of deference and flattery — more focused on staying in favor than on steering the company in any coherent direction. Instead of creating guardrails, senior leadership acts as a relay system for unrealistic expectations — passing pressure downward. Talented people are handed impossible situations and then quietly blamed when things fall apart. Like many other posts, the symptoms are consistent and recurring: Layoffs that arrive without warning, year after year Aggressive hiring waves followed by sudden contractions Instructions from leadership that contradict each other No coherent definition of roles, goals, or who actually makes decisions A polished external narrative that bears little resemblance to what's happening inside The mission-driven branding is real in the marketing sense — not in the operational one. Internally, morale is a slow bleed.

Inconvénients

Don't apply. There are plenty of other organizations that pay better and treat their people better.

Avantages

The mission isn't just something that that is just talked about, you feel it in the actual work and hear it in the student stories. Students and communities are the through-line for every decision, which makes it easy to stay motivated. I have a lot of autonomy over how I work and what I focus on, and the people around me are genuinely collaborative. Knowledge sharing is big and folks are generally always willing to pitch in and lend a hand. Also worth calling out that this org takes AI seriously in a practical way. People have actually built it into how they work and are continuously striving to be better at it. Some of the smartest people I've ever worked with. We have some great partnerships built out as well and the opportunity for impact really feels like its always getting bigger.

Inconvénients

The pace and ambition are high, which I personally enjoy, but it can be hard to keep up when scope keeps growing without anything coming off your plate. We run like a tech start up and you have to be comfortable with ambiguity and willing to advocate for yourself when priorities start to pile up. The bar is high and if you're not excited to exceed it then this probably won't be the right place for you.

Avantages

Employees are trusted to manage their own work with a high degree of autonomy, you're given ownership over your responsibilities without unnecessary micromanagement. I feel an ability to achieve work/life balance while still completing my main responsibilities. The work has visible impact on the students and communities being served, which makes the mission come to life. People are generally easy to work with here and are aligned on how we can help each other with our tasks.

Inconvénients

At times, there can be a disconnect between the pace that's expected and the pace that's actually achievable. Moving quickly is sometimes treated as a given, but the internal ability to execute at that speed isn't always in place.
