Interestingly, if you look through the good reviews, they're almost all from teachers. I cannot fathom employees having anything good to say about the company when they're not contractors / teachers, and instead work in the office with the management team. This company does a good job at branding itself to attract talent, but has 0 ability offer any learning opportunity close to what it claims in the job descriptions
Inconvénients
Many complaints on this front both in a corporate setting and on a moral level. Overall - toxic working environment, terrible pay, and no learning. 1. No benefits offered - no medical, 401k, dental, nothing offered. You'll have to pay for all of that on your own. 2. Incompetent management: no vision, ambiguous targets; the CEO clearly does not know what she is doing which leads to inefficiency 3. Way below industry salary - yes compensation is peanuts, no upside, no raises. Imagine living in NYC on a $2 - 5k/month pre-tax salary 4. VISA - this company advertises itself on VISA sponsorship, and usually that's how they lure people in with ridiculously low salary. However, they are ruthless to fire when the CEO wants to. There is no job security ironically. 5. Internships - all unpaid, no stipends for commute or anything, they're treated like dogs and lured in by the brand image of a "tech startup", while all they do is admin stuff with next to no learning for months. They're also sold on H1B sponsorship to work in an unpaid setting.
