Avantages

A once great company that is struggling with so many things: the cost of technology, recruitment and retention of good people, transparency, internal culture, and so much more. -Once upon a time it was no doubt a fascinating player in Travel Management. -Pockets of excellent people who are hard working and collegial. -Sincere desire by many to serve customers well. -Some new blood in the HR/administrative/management pool that are just what is needed. Although threatening to many by their efficiency, candid style and knowledge of how things work in the real world. -Fair compensation for salaried employees IMO.

Inconvénients

Where to begin? -The once great giant is dying a slow painful death. -A frantic "fake it 'til you make it" culture that is rife with toxicity, fear, gossip and anxiety. -Lots of "TPS report" busy work and meetings that are simply needless. -A lack of technology (and tech support) that is stunning. -Bizarre sub groups in certain departments that would be tolerated at a public company for about three hours. I saw cliques rarely seen outside of middle school. Cruel, childish and a sign of great insecurity and poor oversight. -Benefits are not outstanding. At all.

Avantages

Solid salary and benefits, recognition and opportunity for growth across job function and/or upward. Cross-team interactions and collaborations are open and approachable.

Inconvénients

Senior leadership over the last 10 years has eroded the culture and viability. Current mid-management leaders are relatively new to roles and lack mentoring, training or clarity of direction.

Avantages

Working remotely, great working environment.

Inconvénients

Navigating two separate layoffs both before and after an acquisition is challenging for anyone, especially when your future is unclear. Being laid off in 2024 rehired in 2025 and then released again after being assured my role was secure only added to that uncertainty. I fully understood the risks of returning to CWT during such a transitional period, but the experience highlighted how crucial clear communication and consistent leadership are during an acquisition. This was not about the work or the people both of which were positive but rather about how the transition from CWT to Amex GBT was managed. My hope is that sharing this helps future employees understand the environment and encourages stronger communication during periods of change.
