Avantages
Company is very willing to hire new engineers straight out of college. Those engineers however will never work as an actual engineer and instead do drafting and 3-D modeling.
Inconvénients
Group think seems to be this company's driving philosophy. Project engineers seem to be specifically picked based on their willingness to go along with the herd and not make waves and those who do not have simply given up. Management does not like innovative thinking and rarely approves new concepts unless those new ideas are theirs or they made a significant contribution to them. Unwritten rules are the norm here and several people have been fired or demoted for violations of unwritten policy. No established compensation policies or scales exist and what you can negotiate is what you get. Favored employees are able to work from home and as a result some of their living expenses are offset by the company because of business use while they make as much if not more than others. Management seems to believe a deep recession still exists and treats employees accordingly. Recently 30 shop employees quit to go to work for another local company and instead of offering increased compensation and better work hours, mandatory 12 hour days seven days a week were implemented.
