Avoid Bitstrapped as an engineer - Avis employé Software Engineer Bitstrapped

I joined the company a few months ago, and from day one, it screamed chaos. There’s no such thing as an HR person, and both engineers and PMs are regularly taken for granted. Even during onboarding, getting a simple question answered often requires going through multiple people, only to receive vague or incomplete responses. The workload is usually high, occasionally dropping to medium, and rarely low. While I’m listing this as a con, it’s actually fairly reasonable on its own. Mentorship is non-existent. At best, you’re left to figure things out alone; at worst, you’re given blatantly incorrect advice from individuals who’ve advanced despite lacking the necessary qualifications. The reason I titled this review “Avoid it as an Engineer” is due to the troubling direction the company seems to be heading. They've recently started making broad, poorly defined promises of incentives in exchange for "above and beyond" work. While incentives are generally appreciated, vague expectations paired with equally vague rewards, combined with ongoing neglect of the engineering and PM teams and a complete lack of transparency, are major red flags. It feels like a disaster waiting to happen. If I’m proven wrong, I’ll be more than happy to update this review. But as it stands now, I can’t recommend this place to any engineer.
