Avantages

Bayer has a great brand in the US and globally Exciting to work in pharma and healthcare Overall good compensation and benefits package

Inconvénients

Bureaucracy and centralization. I left the organization following the acquisition of Schering which was more decentralized and had jobs in the US with real responsibility. Bayer is very centralized and keeps the power in Germany which leaves little room for good managers who want to be creative and make a difference. What you're left with are people who want to hide in the bureaucracy, who won't take risks and who don't want to be held accountable. If you want to be a cog in the wheel this is the place for you, but if you want to go after big goals, be held accountable and really make a difference you should look somewhere else.

Avantages

International company that's very inclusive and which does believe in its mission: Health for all, hunger for none. Depending on the team, work/life balance can be great.

Inconvénients

Re-orgs have created a 50+ employee to manager dynamic, which can widely span job titles and functions. The career ladder is still being redesigned since 2024, and won't be launched until 2027, so there is no formal advancement. The advice is to do the work that helps Bayer achieve its missions, and worry about appropriate compensation later. Salaries are uncompetitive. Benefits are abysmal.
