Avantages
Great peers. Folks are very smart and willing to share knowledge and work together to resolve technical issues. Everyone is interested in resolving issues and creating a product to be proud of. Vacation accrual rates are better than typical. Potential for up to 20% bonus each year. Medical benefits are top notch. 401(k) is generous with employer match. Opportunities to work on-site (various international locations) with state-of-the-art complex power control systems can be a great career benefit to young engineers interested in this growing field. Internal transfers to international locations are possible and encouraged. On-site commissioning of systems is expected and can be interesting.
Inconvénients
Salary is about 10% below rate, and bonuses are difficult to get to make up the 10%. Extraordinary effort is required and burnout is an issue. Vacation time is difficult to schedule and travel to site is required of all engineering talent. Site travel can extend multiple weeks without breaks. Management exerts extreme pressure to stay on site (international travel) and will not offer additional compensation. Opportunities for promotion vary greatly between sites. Be sure to ask about specific options when inquiring about open positions.
