Avantages

Mission of the organization Connection with producers General impact of the international system You get to know a lot of cool and nice people attracted by the international Fairtrade image (as employee turnover is very high, it gives you the opportunity to meet many new people as well, several times a year.)

Inconvénients

"Nice on the outside, ugly on the inside" - organization does a lot of marketing, but without a dedication to creating real impact for producers. Dismal management (badmouthing, no motivation whatsoever to train or make employees evolve ; initiates rumours of employees they want to get rid off to create a bad social climate) Toxic work culture (overtime, and lots of it, is the norm, even for volunteers) Exploitation of volunteers (overtime, mobbing, given tasks way outside of the mission scope defined by the service national de la jeunesse). Unethical employee treatment (alluding employees that they are "pregnant" in employee talks to decide whether or not to extend a contract, telling them they have to do more sports to be happier in life if they are not in good shape, extortion in contract negotiations) Absence of transparency If you dare speaking up in private and sharing the psychological toll all of this takes on you with the director, she will not hesitate sharing it behind your back with selected people and use that information against you in team meetings if needed. Pay good attention to what you "reveal". Awful workplace quality (basically at a train station, no isolation or comfort whatsoever)
