How many cars are there in the United States?

5 réponses

Depends if you count the ones that are for sale

Method 1 - Take population of the US, get data for economic classes and multiply by % owning cars in each class (or estimate this data). These are cards on road. Now we add this to cars in dealerships and factories - Get car sales data for the year, divide by 12 and add this to the previous estimation of on road cars (this is making a broad assumption that there is a months worth of inventory lying around) Moins

In an environment of layoffs and restructuring, how do you keep your team motivated?

4 réponses

Be open and honest if their roles are in jeopardy. Understand their concerns and answer their questions as best you can. If you do not know, say so. Keep them busy, and involved in important work. Moins

Stay positive, and focus on the work at hand. Keeping busy on important work helps people realize what they are doing is important. An ideal mind is the devil's.... well, you know the old saying. Be sure the physical environment is welcoming. In summer, raise the blinds, clean the common areas of papers and clutter. You will be amazed how much better things look when you take 10 short minutes a day to make the physical environment look better. The sun is out, blue skies, and maybe it's not so bad here. Let people vent. If you are not holding 1-on-1 meetings, then start. Hear people out. Be honest about what you can talk about. Don't sugar coat anything, but give those more junior to you some context and a bigger view. Sure some people will be laid off, but most will remain. Opportunity to do different things will become available. Sure you will work harder, but you will learn, growth, and build your reputation for having a level head in complex times. Lastly, have a plan. Know what you will do as a manager if you have to layoff 1,2 or 3 people. Know how the work will move around. This will allow you act quickly and decisively should things come to that. Having a manager who looks in charge because they already thought it through will go a long way. Moins

Beside the log book record also put a serviceable sticker/ tag label on each calibrated items and if necessary to monitor the storage requirements such as temperature, magnetic effect, and humidity which may or may not affect the serviceability of the components. Perform magnetic fields scan and demagnetizatise if necessary. Moins

Taking the timed technical exam during the interview. Unexpected and really hard unless you have experience as a surveyor or architect.

When did you interview? I interviewed February 26 still waiting for response. Also which location did they give you? Thanks Moins

Did you answer all the question in the test? Or leave some blank? Because edison employees who monitor the test told that leave the answer blank of the question we don't know rather than fill in the wrong answer. That would against the right answer. I want to know you are able to answer all the question. Thanks. Moins

Can you provide some insight on what you will be tested on in the interview? Perhaps some things to study? Moins

They gave me a case study on a Friday evening to complete for my interview, which was the next Monday. I thought this was inconsiderate of my weekend time.

You don't need to pay $200k and get an MBA to learn how to do a case study. Many are prepared just through their professional experiences. Some prepare through online research on websites like Glass Door. Regardless, sounds like your condescending attitude and unwillingness to gain new skills in a short period of time eliminated your candidacy. For everyone else: the case study is doable. I didn't have much clue on how to attack this problem but I ran my answers against some fellow consultant and supply chain friends. A couple gave me good advice and I eventually landed a planning role. Good luck to all. Moins

Can you share more about the case study?

I did not make enough assumptions. I have never done a case study for an interview before. Sorry I didn't get an MBA and pay 200k+ to learn how to do case studies. Moins

Your lucky you missed getting that job. You would had been a 12 hour a day slave to the cruel planning Management. No one should work there. All you would have done for the first year would have been cycle counts. Planners don't do cycle counts. Moins
