Honestly, and with respect to the fact that I realized I would never be offered a better position at my then current employer. In retrospect, I believe the question was asked based on rumors passed to them about me from my employer, even though I told them not to contact my employer. I believe my then employer bad-mouthed me to the director here to further sabotage my career, for this and other reasons I will not go into here. It's not paranoia if they're *really* after you.
