I had filled out my application in early Feb. and got an invite four days later to good ol' Houston, Texas. The interview process is exactly like others have mentioned. You arrive to the recruiting center before 9am with about 40 or more other applicants. They start off with a brief presentation about the company, benefits, expectations and etc. After that, a group of about 8 recruiters line up calling hopeful applicants. So here is when the actual interview start. I was luckily one of the first to be called. 1st interview: My recruiter was a man. He seemed nice but not overly intimidating which was a plus. He wasn't overly enthusiastic either. He took me to his cubicle and he had me read the first paragraph of the in-flight announcement. After that, he went over my resume briefly and asked me typical HR questions. One question he asked was " Tell me a time you didn't get alone with a co-worker? How did you handle the situation?". Then when off asking probably two more questions. He ended the interview by slipping my a small white slip saying I was invited back for a second interview. He told me to be very discrete. 2nd Interview: Once again you come back to the recruitment center after a nice lunch and start the process again, but with a different recruiter. About 15 applicants were left out about 40-50 people. My recruiter was a very sweet women who is a FA. She made me feel very comfortable and told me to not get nervous when she wasn't looking at me as she has to write down my answers to each question given. She started asking me more costumer service related questions. These were very easy as I had encountered every situation she had me answer. One of the questioned asked was " Why did you leave your previous job?" " Tell me a time you saw a co worker do something harmful, how did you handle it?" Luckily I had gone through these situations so it was a breeze answering her questions. This interview is a little longer and goes more in depth about your past experiences and behavioral situations. After that was, she took me out of the room and said she wanted me back for a third interview. She directed me to a tiny room. 3rd Interview: This is the make or break moment. You wait in the small room to be called for the last and final interview. Out of the 15 who were invited back for the 2nd interview, only five of us remained. Again I was one of the first to be called for an interview. You walk in and here are your judges who will determine your fate as a United FA. There were three of them and they each asked me one question. One of them was " Where do yourself in 5 years", What would be your negative trait as a FA? The last question was a little confusing. I know my negative traits as a server or as an individual, BUT how I'm I suppose to know my neg traits if I never was a FA? Either way they asked me if a spoke another language ( I do ) and told me they would contact me within a week. From what I heard, they hire on the spot. So I'm assuming I didn't get the job. BUMMER! Still waiting for my rejection letter though it's only been two days. Conclusion: The interviews was not difficult. Especially if you've have been in the CS industry, I'm sure most of you have encountered obstacles you had to resolve or overcome. After going through this process I was shocked at how easy it went. Especially after reading other forums stating how hard it was for some. Overall, it was a positive and educational experience. I met very sweet people, looking back I wish I had gotten their contact info. Either way, the only downside about this process is that I didn't get the job. I'm still waiting for my "Thank you, but no thank you" email. One thing though, after the second interview, I believe they already know who their going to pick regardless of the 3rd interview. Right when I walked in a got a weird vibe from the recruiters. I have to say that they definitely don't hire you for your looks, that's for sure ( I'm a very attractive female in her early 20s). But again I was competing with people who spoke Mandarin, Hebrew and German and Untied is currently looking for those people who spoke those languages. Just my luck. I guess speaking French is not impressive. Again this was an awesome opportunity and I was very pleased with making it to the last round even without a job offer.... pat on the back, pat on the back! There's always next year.
