First I had a screening interview, which was straightforward and went well. I was informed of the opportunity and the potential compensation. It was clear this was an FPGA design position and that the bulk of my experience fit with that role. This was followed up with a team interview; however immediately I was told this was for an FPGA verification position, not the posted FPGA design position. I have never had an interview change the job to one that I hadn’t applied for. I almost did not finish the interview, but I stayed with it and tried gamely to answer some verification questions. I didn't get the offer, but I would have declined anyway. It would have been a bad fit, not only because the job was changed on me midway through the interview process to one that was not suitable for me, but because the company should have known better than to do so.
