I regret to share that this was one of the most disappointing interview experiences I’ve encountered, despite having participated in numerous interviews throughout my career.
This was a hiring manager round with VP of Product. The conversation began with a brief overview of the role, followed by a request for my introduction. However, from the moment I started speaking, the her demeanor appeared visibly disengaged and disapproving, which set a negative tone for the remainder of the discussion.
Throughout the interview, I observed repeated interruptions, abrupt topic shifts, and a lack of clarity in the questions posed. Several questions seemed disconnected from the role’s scope or lacked sufficient context to allow for a meaningful response. Despite my attempts to seek clarification, the interaction remained strained and unproductive.
The experience left me questioning the alignment between the company’s leadership approach and its stated values. Within the first few minutes, I had already lost interest in the opportunity, but I remained on the call in hopes of gaining some insight or learning from the exchange.
While I understand that interviews can vary in style and expectations, I believe candidates deserve a respectful and constructive environment, especially when engaging with senior leadership. I hope this feedback proves useful for others preparing to interview with the organization.
