I scheduled an informational interview with a member of the staff and was very excited to learn more about the company and the Legal Counsel role. They provided me a date and time, which I confirmed, and when I followed up to determine whether it would be via phone or Zoom, I received no response. Even so, I spent hours researching the company and preparing a list of questions. On the day of, I contacted the person again to confirm our meeting and again received no response. I still dressed professionally and waited at my computer the entire hour, just in case they were in a meeting that went over. The person never showed up or contacted me to reschedule/cancel. I followed up again a couple of days later to reschedule because I remained interested in the position and company, and again received no response. It’s possible the person had an emergency (if so, I hope everything is okay!), but for a company that prides itself on kindness and direct communication I was very disappointed with this unprofessional interaction. The job hunt process is already incredibly stressful and a strain on mental health; preparing for a meeting only to be ghosted and never even receive a follow up apology only exacerbates those feelings. It’s important employers respect applicants’ time, too.
