      Entretien

After a great initial phone screen with a recruiter, I was asked to interview in person with 6 members of the team. When I arrived, I valet parked as instructed and then signed in with their automated system which printed my badge. The HR rep met me and provided an extremely in-depth tour of all floors and areas of their office. She was very excited to highlight the free beer, canoes for employee use, free food, casual work areas, etc. As we walked around, I began to realize that as someone in my 40s, I probably was not going to be the right fit since most employees appeared to be in their early 20s. When I met with the first round of interviewers, I offered hard copies of my resume and they were quick to tell me everything is done online as they pulled up their laptops. I was told multiple times throughout the day that each person on the team was a subject matter expert and they only bring on the very best. My final interview was with the hiring manager. While I have significant marketing/branding experience and my background appeared to be a great match vs the job posting, it became clear that they wanted someone who had very specific technical marketing experience, which wasn't stated in the job description or brought up by the recruiter. I think the hiring manager ended the interview with me after about 15 minutes. The recruiter did get back to me shortly with a very kind rejection e-mail. Overall, it was not a bad experience, but I took 1/2 day off from my current employer so I just wish the job posting and recruiter had been more clear in the type of background/skills they were looking for.
