Avantages
Amazing mission, entire team believes in writing and working with kids. The kids are fantastic! Great curriculum. Creative culture. Regional management was really cool. Coworkers creative, interesting, and inspiring.
Inconvénients
A lot of pressure to eat-sleep-breathe Writopia, and to have a 100% positive attitude all the time. Also a lot of "required volunteering" (i.e. forced to work beyond 40 hrs a week for free). Example: after working 2 straight weeks and weekends in a row, waking at 4AM, driving hours to a staff retreat and being in meetings until 10PM, I mentioned to a coworker that I was exhausted; the next day, management scolded me for my bad attitude and warned me not to complain. There was so much pressure to be positive it was a little oppressive.
