Avantages

Interesting work, laid back, university environment, good salaries, the chance to do work that has an impact on society

Inconvénients

Very little diversity, lack of management direction, professional women are not treated the same as men and often feel they are in a hostile environment, management is not transparent, evaluation criteria differ greatly even for similar positions depending on who your manager is. Needs an overhaul of senior management

Avantages

Large computational research organization under UNC, but works with many other orgs and universities. Cool projects, including research and infra stuff.

Inconvénients

Office is a bit gloomy.

Avantages

There were truly no pros in my experience. One of the worst managed data research and implementation organizations I have ever worked at in my career.

Inconvénients

Several. The salaries are not very competitive but I was hired with promises of promotion, fast tracks to the next level, etc., none of which happened and when I asked in my performance review I was informed to be thankful I had the position and just keep working harder (was already putting in 50+ hours a week). If you like working somewhere that is stuck in the early 2000's, is run by old men, and essentially old-school management structure and priniciples, then this is the place for you. Even the office looks like something out of the 90's / early 2000's.
