Avantages

BioInformatics offers unusually generous benefits for such a small company and most have their own office. If you like Apple computers, most employees use those for their workstation. They have a convenient location off of the Clarendon metro. The environment is comfortable and the offices are nice.

Inconvénients

Management can focus too heavily on whatever issue seems the most pressing, leading to neglecting other vital interests. This has lead to severe cases where a lack of accountability has been damaging to the company's interests and employee morale. Turnover is high, suggesting either a dissatisfaction with potential for job advancement (it's a small company, not their fault) or dissatisfaction with position/pay. That said, the analysts seem to have the best retention. Working with the web site and associated in-house technologies is a frustrating experience. Pay was subpar.

Avantages

Main pro is that it's close to the metro. Work-life balance was decent.

Inconvénients

Management is AWFUL: To sum them up: unethical and extremely unprofessional. One person in C-suite has shown up high on pain killers on numerous occasions. Management is cynical, unpleasant to work with, and constantly have a contagiously depressing attitude. They get in shouting matches all the time and it was just awkward for everyone. It was a toxic work environment. The management team just wants to fake-it-until-they-make-it, and sell the company to any firm dumb enough to believe the hype. They have zero innovation. Business model is a scam: BioInformatics gets approached by lab equipment co's to perform market research. BioInformatics sends surveys (spams) to an online community of 'scientists' to get their input and pays them for their time. The problem is that there are tons of frauds participating and they game the system. BioInformatics can't do anything to stop this issue and they are, of course, not upfront with their clients. AND, BioInformatics has lied about donating some of the deferred $ to charities for YEARS. They just pocket it, and I guess understandably, because their projects are lucky to break-even. They are not profitable. No transparency: A bunch of liars at the top. Board meetings are secretive and employees are set up to fail with the lack of information. Zero guidance. DO NOT WORK HERE
