Avantages
Great company culture: The environment is very fun but everyone is serious about their work, you'll often hear a lot of laughter from everywhere. We have weekly lunches and the office manager always organizes with the different departments when we have in office events or celebrations. Determined to retain talented individuals: The company has not gone through any major layoffs like other companies are doing right now. Many of the individuals have the opportunity to work cross-functionally between multiple departments if they choose to. Very accomodating work schedule: I am able to adjust my schedule if needed with little to no hassle. As long as my deliverables are met or I have someone who can help me while I'm gone then I'm all good. A lot of hard working employees: Everyone here takes great pride in what they do and strives to do it well. Everyone is accountable for their work and when something goes wrong, the main focus is aimed at finding a solution instead of finger pointing. Everyone has a strong work ethic and pulls their own weight if not more. Fulfilling work: The work is difficult at times, but I really enjoy it. Every day I look forward to coming in and interacting with my coworkers. I love what this company is trying to accomplish and I am so lucky to be apart of it.
Inconvénients
Company growth can affect what is considered a "normal" workday: With growth, there are more and more things to do. This will sometimes manifest as staying late, coming in early or working on the weekends. It is a part of the job that is to be expected, especially if you have your own experiments to run or meetings with individuals from other locations. Not everyone will fit into the company: The environment is very fast paced at times and each person has multiple responsibilities. This is not a rest and vest workplace and might not be a good fit for someone who isn't adaptable or accustomed to working efficiently. Supervisors and managers are expected to jump in and help when needed, no one is exempt from doing grunt work. Company structure is still on small company/start-up scale: There are some things that need to be properly defined now that we are larger. Many things we did worked well as a small company but are not scalable as we grow. This will take time to properly implement so I am hopeful that something is in the works already.
