Schlumberger is not a software company and doesn't know how to manage software project. No efficiency, the different parts of the company are competing for personal interest and the budget goes into the salaries of the hierarchy, there are more managers than workers, I have even seen projects where there were no software engineers. Everything is managed the old fashioned way, the company wants to control its employees fully down to where the employee can sit, everything is decided in advance and forced through. In reality the workers are not considered, just a few examples, the layout of the offices, poor quality of the furnishings, removal of luncheon vouchers,no trust, against teleworking, no salary increase, unfair annual appraisals. The only way to get ahead is through pay-offs and cronyism. year after year company is reducing compensation and beneficts.
