      Avantages

      - Almost all code repositories, documentation and even internal forum are public. - If you're an employee, there are no secrets from you at all. Decisions almost always are taken collectively. - Good portion of management is done by developers. - Constant and large investments in management automation. - Meetings are optional, asynchronous communication is preferable. - Lot of high-skilled coworkers to learn from.

      Inconvénients

      If you have committed to do something, you must do it. That's the base of a high quality of work that OpenCraft does. But this policy is strict, and you have to be ready for it.

      Avantages

      * The level of autonomy and ability to affect change within the company is unmatched. * The all-remote workstyle is truly all-remote. * Highly selective process means everyone's good at what they do. Haven't had to deal with jerks. * Mostly flat organizational style means a more cooperative atmosphere rather than competing for promotions.

      Inconvénients

      * Compensation can be on the lower side of if you live in the US, especially if you live in a coastal city * The level of autonomy can be too much for people who prefer to work with a direct manager that gives them tasks * Negotiating your rate well to start is very important, as raises are percentage-based and team-wide rather than individual.       Avantages

      Everything is set up for effective remote work. Requirements are detailed and precise, and developers can manage their own time. Standards are high, with rigorous code reviews and very talented colleagues. Strong free software ethos - everything is open source.

      Inconvénients

      Some of the work is a bit tedious (lots of DevOps tasks). The edX project has a lot of stakeholders, so each change goes through several rounds of review and the pace of development can be very slow.
