Focus on making money and not reports and busy work . Contradictory statements and practices ie hire enough staff that you have to start cutting hours but keep hiring. Watch labor though. The hours are horrific but that's to be expected in this industry. And heaven help you if you work in a location that's understaffed. Definitely a "who do you know that likes you" company if you want to move up. Bad habit of hiring C suite people that have no idea what the company is about beyond a spreadsheet and stick around for a few quarterly bonuses then leaves this company.
