    The company just wasted $600K on streamlining their collections process when all they ended paying for was a glorified excel spreadsheet that has some built in templates to help collect low hanging fruit. The software they develop and sell to Higher Learning institutions is so ridiculously over priced that customers end up not wanting more than half of what they signed up for. They hired me to collect from accounts... that owe us hundreds of thousands of dollars but wont give us the power to place the cust on hold as leverage. I only worked there for a couple of weeks as a temp then they quickly let me go as they would rather overload whomever is currently working in the collections dept. The real problem is the sales people whom..."sell, sell, sell" and never look back and authorize any credits for unwanted software. Their aging is in shambles but they don't want to admit it!!!

    Start to crack down on your sales managers to write off some of that festering bad debt. Maybe the numbers would look better and your AR dept can collect actual money instead of excuses.
