The officers are great people.
Like anywhere else, if you have a good manager this can be a good experience.
Inconvénients
The pension isn’t worth it. Tier 2 takes 10 years to vest and must be 67 y.o. to withdraw without penalty. Because you are paying into the pension, you are not paying into social security and earning social security credits. Also, there is no matching 401k.
As a civilian employee, I found career development, training and advancement to be very limited.
A toxic environment driven by a disproportionate number of individuals who have never worked professionally anywhere else and are stuck. These stuck individuals can only be described as covetous, unprofessional, narcissistic, tactless and sanctimonious.
Your career, skills, and time are too precious to risk getting stuck here.
