    Avantages

    Everything that you've heard or expect a job at Southwest to be like is true. The company really values employees and creates a fun working environment.

    Inconvénients

    Non-rev travel out of Dallas could be better. There is no visibility to the standby list, so you never really know if you are going to make a flight.
    Also, a large portion of compensation (401k 9.3% match + Profit Sharing) are for retirement. Both have a 5 year vesting period, which is way too long--especially for Profit Sharing. If you need to leave before five years, you forfeit 100%/80%/60%/40%/20% of those earned benefits and any associated investment income.

    Avantages

    Great flight benefits, great 401(k) and insurance. Ability to trade shifts if you find someone trustworthy to do so with. That’s really all the pros.

    Inconvénients

    Deceitful coworkers, heartless management and leadership. You are unable to trust anyone as you are put under a microscope. The station managers are miserable and will not support you even if you are a great employee. 20+ year employees that are rude to the customers and rude to fellow employees are treated as gods I guess it’s all in who you know. Never date a coworker I know you will have the flight benefits in common but it never turns out good and you will also be looked down because of this and coworkers/leadership will do their best to cause you more problems because of these relationships. Anytime you transfer different departments it might feel like you are moving up in the company but you are putting yourself on a new six-month probationary period and they will use this against you and get rid of you for ridiculous reasons. It’s all about replacing you with employees that are new because they make less. Be careful who you trade with or give a way to shift wise if you are trustworthy you will get burned. Also as sad as it seems your coworkers will steal your lunch and items in your bags and purses. So if you’re looking for flight benefits and good insurance with low starting pay Southwest is a great place to start but trust me trust no one befriends with no one just do your job don’t rock the boat and stay under the radar completely. And stay off probation once you completed your initial six months. After that the bad employees get away with murder just like the station leadership. But this doesn’t mean you won’t be called in for every cough and sneeze that you do be prepared to be questioned and bullied at all times.

    Instead of ruling with an iron fist try having some compassion with your employees. This is my experience in the sky harbor airport as an operations agent. You can have an awesome track record for 10+ years and be accused of the most simplest of things and nothing in your past matters even when they have no proof of you doing anything wrong. Don’t forget that the founders started the company with the intentions of looking out for the customers and the employees. He would be disgusted if he knew how things were being run now. Anytime you work for a company where you cannot reach out to the CEO that at one time the founder/CEO remembered everyone’s name and was contactable at any time. The problem is that now station management and call center leadership are not held accountable as long as they process the numbers they get away with murder.

    Avantages

    The people you work with will grow in your hearts and become your extended family.

    Inconvénients

    Needs work. Should have left the company the way that it was now that new higher ups have taken over it's just not the same.

    Stop trying to micro manage your employees we already have the nicest staff in aviation. Stop creating rules that you don't or wouldn't follow. Your draining the moral.

    Avantages

    Best pay. Best flight Attendants. Flexible Schedule. No minimums.

    Inconvénients

    Not what it was when we were Herb's airline. Supervisors too big for their britches, have never worked on an airplane in their life. Mid level managers that have barely graduated high school, let alone college. Top execs not only tolerate, they actually orchestrate this abuse.
    There is no job security. No union to fight for us. Managers have taken over the union.
    Rumors circulte someone is fixing to sell us off to Delta.

    Best to leave union business to the union. The same high expectations of front line employees should apply to Management as well. Invest in current employees. All stuff they keep hearing from employees but they do not care. They do not even pretend to listen.

    Avantages

    Southwest is an amazing company! Everyone genuinely cares about each other and takes tremendous pride in their work. There's so much room for growth and advancement all over the company. Everyone has fun everyday while working incredibly hard. I absolutely love working here and have a hard time imagining myself any place else.

    Inconvénients

    There are so many people at headquarters it can be hard to remember people's names. But everyone is so friendly and you meet new, wonderful people every day!
